This is the most insensitive funeral home in detroit. . The owners are crooked and they over change a grieving family. The services was a total of 3800 $ cash no check or credit cards or debit. We payed 3400 $ by the date of the wake services and since we was short 400 $ the owner canceled the
wake services and threaten to cancel the funeral if he does not receive the 400 $ by the next day.. funerals are very expensive but majority of the payment is profit to the funeral home.. I don't think that 400 $ short from 3800 $ is enough to send a grieving family away especially when you have 4 working family members who vow to take the funds out of their next check. . Carver funeral home on van dyke in detroit mich. Is the worst funeral home in Michigan. . Please take my advice stay away from carver funeral home they are the worst. ..

You won't find anything in the media to substantiate the story because at the time of the assault, the family opted not to go to the press because not only was Ross found, but because they didn't want there to be any retaliatory attacks by going to the press, nor did they want people trying to politicize the debate and turn it into something it wasn't. The assault happened, the kid who shot Ross used a 20-gauge sawed-off for the attack, and got sentenced 15-30.
It was definitely a set-up, but whether or not it was gang-related or over some other nonsense is something that'll probably never be known.
How do I know as much as I do? The world may never know...

There were many good people who had as much as 47 years seniority with Wolverine Tube who lost their jobs and life as they knew it. The one thing they did not lose was their pensions. The UAW protected their rights. It was a sad time.

Wolverine Tube was owned by Universal Oil Products a conglomerate based in Chicago. UOP made the decision to close the Detroit plant in 1973 I was told because it turned a 5% profit, they got a natural gas deal from the state of Oklahoma to move the operations to Shawnee, Ok. and Detroit city and Michigan taxes were too expensive.

I am digging around trying to find anything to substantiate this story and I am not having any luck. He got on a run of talk shows a couple years ago - Anderson Cooper, and something on the Oprah Winfrey network (these guys never fact-check). On the Anderson Cooper show, they brought out the guy who found Capicchioni stumbling through the street. So assuming that guy isn't lying, Capicchioni was assaulted and injured. What we don't know is the nature of the assault (does that look like a shot-gun blast to the chest, really?), whether he was chosen at random (as he insists), or whether this was in any way connected to gang-activity (this whole kill-a-stranger gang-initiation thing is the oldest urban myth in the book).

This is the ice rink I used to skate on when I was a child in the 1960's!
My family lived on Beaverland, and we would walk all the way in the winter, crossing 7 mile, skates dangling from our shoulders. I seem to remember the admission price being much cheaper - an astonishing 10 cents. And skate rental was only a quarter. Of course, there were food concessions, but they were cheap, too. Hot chocolate was always available, and for only another dime.
I came here after doing a Google Maps "street view" of the area, trying to imagine where the old rink used to stand. Lo and behold, you've outlined it in red exactly the way I imagined it must have been!
Thanks for the nostalgia rush!
