According to what I saw on CNBC recently, this is the largest abandoned industrial facility in America. It is a sober testament to the realities of how capitalism leaves certain entities - be they people, careers, dreams, factories, what have you - in the dust in the onward march of growth, profits, and progress. I'm surprised some developer hasn't converted this sprawling place into a giant condominium project, "The Packard Palisades," or some such.

The ushers were all volunteers. If you knew the right people, you were able to serve as an usher. Arrive early, seat guests and then find a vacant seat and see the performance. Rotations worked out such that you would never have to see the same play twice.
